Internal coating of pipelines for high-temperature crude oil (80°C)
In China, riser pipes for an oil platform were coated internally with corrosion protection system PROGUARD CN 200. Very good physical properties were the main criteria for selection of this premium product.

CN ProGuard 200 provides a high-level chemical resistence at a very high operating temperature, excellent abrasion resistance and extreme curing time, with a simple application.

In the first phase, the pipes were grit blasted according to standard SSPC-SP10, by special pipe interior blasting equipment with rotating head.
Corrosion protection product ProGuard CN 200 was applied in two layers, each with a tickness of 500 micrometre. The application process was done accurately using a specific method recommended in such situations. Due to low viscosity, this corrosion protection system can be applied using a spray, without pre-heating. The fast curing time facilitates a completion after 24 hours!
After full curing, the surface was inspected using an electronic spark detector (Holiday tester). No pinholes, blistering ore cracks were detected, presenting a smooth surface material. The specification called for a total thickness of 1,000 mm, which was tested very carefully.
