Refurbishment of a tank of a water treatment plant. Find out how it went!
(application process of corrosion protection system)
Water treatment station in the town of Radeberg owns an equalization tank that has a length of 70 m. Here were necessary intense actions reconditioning the concrete structure. What were the causes?
Aggressive environment
Because of the chemical influences on the concrete structure, water treatment plant is in an advanced stage of decay. Much of the area covered by water has been affected. The top section is subject to mechanical stress by movement on the scraper bridge. Cracks and sediments are related to water composition and temperature fluctuations.

Technical data
Object: Buff er tank, 70 m long, 8 m wide,
2.5 m deep + additional installations
Area: ca. 500 sqm
Coating products:
CP-SYNTHOFLOOR BETA 8016 + PROGUARD CN 200
Application Process
At first, the surface was sanded with grit and severely damaged parts have been removed.
The structure was smoothed using a mortar and applied the product CP-SYNTHOFLOOR BETA 8016. In such situations, for cavities or uneven sections the previous product can be mixed with quartz sand and used as mortar.
(application process of corrosion protection system)
After these steps, the product PROGUARD CN 200 was applied by airless spraying. This system was chosen because it provides chemical and temperature resistance, and combined with the primer CP- SYNTOFLOOR BETA 8016 ensures long-lasting protection against chemical influences and abrasion.
PROGUARD CN 200 can be applied directly on metallic surfaces without the need for a primer. Besides this, the application method used (airless) provides for reduced scope and significant cost reduction.
If you have question about the systems used or other corrosion protection methods, here you have our contacts. Choose protecting your equipment instead of repairing them and significantly reduce maintenance costs!
