The effects of improper application of corrosion protection systems
What is the subject of this case study?
The project was based on the inspection of rubber protection applied on sections of pipeline
Installation: hydrochloric acid line
What was observed?
Following the inspection, these aspects were identified:
- Interior sections are protected with rubber;
- Delamination of protection applied to the flange;
- Lack of bonding of rubber to metal surface (cut section);
- Rubber shows blistered and peeled bonding areas;
- In the joining area of the flanges on the sealing zone the application is not executed according to standards;
(the effect of inappropriate applying) (the effect of inappropriate applying)
What was recommended?
Considering the information above, it is advisable to replace the rubber protection on the sections where delaminated areas (separating) or blisters were identified.
A system that guarantees corrosion protection
Chemoline is a soft rubber applied for corrosion protection in all areas subject to frequent thermal and chemical attacks. A rubber based protection sistem, using Chemoline product, offers excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, aiding diffusion.
Chemoline rubber product can be vulcanized in autoclave, self vulcanizing and pre-vulcanised without requiring vulcanization on site.
To obtain the best results, we recommend proper preparation of the surface, and identifying factors that can affect metal structure.
