Corrosion and abrasion resistance for a silo. Reduced maintenance costs considerably!
A few things about the project
It is a silage tank at a station on biomass. Concrete structure was severely eroded as a result of chemical stress from the fermentation process. Thus, it took reconditioning concrete base to ensure the functionality of the tank. The solution for long-lasting protection? PROGUARD CN-1M product was applied, with resistance to chemical stress.
If you have concrete equipment, a couple of information regarding material transformation in time will be presented, with a series of images. Therefore,
Without corrosion protection / anti-abrasion problems arise
Concrete, without adequate protection, can not withstand long-term environmental aggression. Biogas and biomass, by chemical stress, challenges the substrates resistance. It was needed a solution to prevent effects that may occur as a result of the mentioned scenario.
Returning to our tank, is in an advanced state of degradation. Erosion has reache the reinforce metal. Thus, the surfaces were exposed to corrosion, requiring immediate action.
Application process
For the start, the surface was sandblasted and was refurbished with a mortar. After, a primer for concrete was applied, CP-SYNTHOFLOOR BETA product. A quartz sand was added to achieve an anchorage profile.

The chosen solution
PROGUARD CN-1M product was used in this project, the application being made by airless spraying (600 μm - thick coat). A single application procedure was sufficient to provide protection against abrasion and chemical attack.
Further, it took the reconditioning of the tank foundation. The process is similar to applying CP-SYNTHOFLOOR BETA product, only in this case the product PROGUARD CN-1M was used again.
