9 effects of corrosion. Have you noticed such situations?

Corrosion implies deterioration of materials by chemical factors interacting with the external environment. The term is used for metal surfaces, but may be associated with plastics, cement and wood.

Whatever the context, corrosion leads to failure in the production and may endanger the people responsible with the equipment handling. We take into account that maintenance actions needed fo this situations, and those involve cost and time.

In the image below, you can see the effects of inadequate applying of the corrosion protection systems. We recommend that these actions be carried out by a team of specialists. Just so you can fully benefit from product features.

9 effects of corrosion:

1)  With the reduction of the metal layer the equipment can breakdown. Mechanical strength decreases and production process are no longer match optimum operating conditions

2) Unstable metal structures can endanger persons handling the equipment

3) The affected parts replacement time is very high

4) The unpleasant aspect of surfaces

5) Fluid contamination from containers or pipes (eg: beer becomes cloudy when exposed to small amounts of metal)

6) Chemical substances can leak through holes or cracks formed by corrosion. This lead to dangers in the perimeter. (eg the existence of liquid substances on floors can cause work accidents)

7) Loss of material properties

8) There may be blockages of valves, pumps, etc., by peeling the metal pieces

9) Significant investments by replacing parts damaged or replacement of the entire equipment

Certain types of corrosion can not be observed by visual analysis (corrosion cracking, material fatigue) and specialized surfaces verification is required. Systems implementation can be done by following the factors in the work environment to extend the life cycle of industrial equipment.
