External corrosion protection for 20 beer tank. A plus for quality!

About the project

We care about the quality of beer, so all measures were taken to keep it at the highest standards. It was necessary to apply an external corrosion protection for fermentation tanks of the brewery. Within these are stored 2,400 hectoliters of beer. The tanks have a height of 23 m and a diameter of 4-6 m.

The outer tank is partially obscured by corosion due to long operation time.

Requirements for the protection

To obtain the best results, the corrosion protection system  for the  tanks must meet clear criteria. After fermentation, the tanks are rinsed with warm water before refilling. Therefore, the product has to face temperature changes. Moreover, it takes a product adapted to the requirements for drinking water. These requirements are covered successfully by the product Proguard CN 200.

Application process

The corrosion protection is applied during ongoing production. Only a few tanks could be out of service simultaneously.

For proper preparation of the surface, blasting was done according to standard SA2,5 using copper slag. Old and damaged protection was removed and the necessary roughness was obtained.

CN Proguard 200 was applied by airless spray, as a single layer.
